Adrian Bonilla Valverde is a Costa Rican architect recognized for his refined approach to tropical and sustainable architecture. Through architect.cr, Adrian shares his vision of creating contemporary spaces that connect deeply with nature while reflecting the culture, climate, and craft of Costa Rica.
With more than two decades of professional experience, Adrian has developed projects ranging from private residences and eco-luxury villas to hospitality and urban developments. His work is characterized by thoughtful integration with the site, a commitment to natural materials, and a seamless balance between functionality and beauty. Each design is a response to place — guided by light, air, landscape, and the human experience.
Education & Credentials
Adrian holds a Master’s Degree in Tropical Architecture from the University of Costa Rica (U.C.R.), earned in 2016, as well as Bachelor’s and Licentiate Degrees in Architecture from recognized Costa Rican institutions. He is an active, registered member of the College of Architects and Engineers of Costa Rica (C.F.I.A.), under registration number A-16408.

Over the past twenty years, Adrian has collaborated on and led numerous architectural projects across Costa Rica, working as a Partner and Senior Architect in well-established studios. His experience spans conceptual design, project management, and construction coordination, always with an emphasis on sustainable practices and timeless design.
